Malus domestica ‘Frequin Rouge’
An ancient French ‘bittersweet’ cider variety from the Normandy region, that adds depth and complexity to all the blends where it is used. Not for eating – use all these ruby-red beauties to bring your ciders to the next level! Produces a deep amber juice.
Requires 600+ chill hours. Blooms mid-late (category 4), and ripens midseason. Tends to overbear – thin completely, especially when young, to avoid lapsing into a biennial bearing pattern.
