Morus alba x rubra ‘Wellington’
Considered the best mulberry varieties grown at the New York State Fruit Testing center in Geneva, it was originally discovered on the NY property of Richard Wellington. Probably a wild cross of Morus alba and rubra.
The tree is a heavy cropper, reliably winter hardy, and self fertile The sweet, black, cylindrical fruits, averaging 1 1/4″ each, ripen over several weeks.
